As a kid I loved E.T. As a father I love to watch E.T. with my kids… This movie is incredible because it give me a lot of good vibrations when i see it. Every time without exception. Even if I watch it in french! The magic, the beauty, the point of view and the story are just awesome. I think a lot of people can agree on that.

The 50JPG (50 Days for Photography in Geneva) is a festival dedicated to photography. Thirty exhibitions are proposed, including fALSEfAKES an exhibition organized by the CPG (Centre pour la Photography Genève) with the participation of 77 artists.
“The exhibition fALSEfAKES seeks to probe the documentary value of photography. Whether we are producers or viewers of photos, we all seem to share the assumption that anyone recording images using an optical device is, in essence, providing testimony. That assumption is so deeply rooted that even today, photography is widely considered a prime vehicle for delivering irrefutable evidence. Emerging in the nineteenth century, photography quickly gained credence as a tool for furthering scientific endeavour, both in the social sciences – history, art history, anthropology, sociology – and the natural sciences. Moreover, this status was strengthened by the contemporaneous rise of positivism, a philosophy that viewed verified data received from the senses as the source of valid knowledge of the world.” said Joerg Bader, curator of the exhibition
Another exhibition called “Ici tout est vrai” (Everything is real here) will present the work of Daniel Hahn, designer at BaseGVA and photographer. He will show his work with Andri Pol (Basel), Bernhard Moosbauer (Berlin) et Ingo Baltes (Bruxelles)
The Base NY team went on a journey last Friday to visit a Base friend, and artist, Randy Moore. Randy invited the team to his studio as a thank you to Base for their ‘chewy’ contributions toward his artwork.

To add to the adventure, the trip was kept a secret from most of the team until Randy opened the door to his studio to invite everyone in.
The adventure started at the Base NY studio, and included a ride on the J train, a walk through the financial district, a Water Taxi ride across the East River…

After a midday regroup, we set out for the final event. Due to rush hour traffic, we decided to take the subway to Digital October. The station let us out at the foot of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The history of the church is fascinating. Initially built in 1860 by order of Alexander I, the church was ordered torn down by Stalin in 1930. In its place, Stalin had wanted to construct an administrative center and congress hall called the Palace of the Soviets . However, as the church sits on the bank of the Moscow river, the ground would not support the proposed structure, so the grounds sat empty until under Khrushchev the largest open air swimming pool in the world was built. Given the climate, the pool proved a bit impractical and in 1990 the church was rebuilt as an exact replica of the original with donations from over 1 million Moscovites. It is (obviously) stunning.
On day three, Geoff got a bit of a breather from the high stress obligations of the prior two days of interviewing and auditorium speeches. Today rather, he was invited to talk to students at two top design schools in Moscow: The Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts & Industry and the British Higher School of Design & Arts.
The historically significant Stroganov school was founded in 1825 by Baron Sergey Stroganov. It specialised on the applied and decorative arts.
Meanwhile, back in Moscow, day 2 for Base partner Geoff Cook was an eventful one.
