Min Lew, head of Base New York and DJ Stout of Pentagram Texas co-chaired this year’s national AIGA Medalist gala, “Bright Lights”, held on April 19 in New York City.

The annual event celebrates the distinguished practitioners, educators and role models whose creativity, inspiration, innovation and brilliant execution have defined and shaped the entire design profession. This night of conversation and celebration supported key initiatives and honored eight designers with the AIGA Medal.

The evening kicked off at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. Base & Pentagram treated guests to a venue designed around the “spotlight” theme. A four-story high video projection by Base’s head of all things digital, Martin Bravo, served as an ambient backdrop of abstract spotlights.

At 7:30 p.m. the evening’s program began, featuring the presentation of the AIGA Medal for lifetime achievement in design. Accompanying the awards was the premiere of videos about each Medalist by award-winning filmmakers, Dress Code. Then from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m., guests had the chance to congratulate the newly minted AIGA Medalists and enjoy another round of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music and conversation.

Special thanks to the more than 300 people from the design community who came together to celebrate.
