BaseLab is devoted to typeface design. Every Tuesday we try to post some of our work on BaseNow. With this week’s post we’re happy to announce the unveiling of our new website.
2008 has been a big year for our type foundry, BaseLab. They moved into a new studio in Barcelona with their BaseMotion brothers. They designed a custom font for BaseWords and, for a cookie company, a handwritten typeface that includes four versions of each character. They created Screech, a typeface based on tractor feed printers, and began work on custom fonts for Kipling and Montreal’s Department of Transportation. They produced a newspaper/poster set showcasing their growing portfolio of type creations in action, and have just launched their new website.
The site presents Lab’s fonts and a look into the considerations behind their design. Also featured are client logotypes and Lab’s design and production tools such as Booksider, an application for printing on the outside edges of books, and a tool to create illustration patterns, developed for Base’s work with Brussels school of visual arts, La Cambre.
