America Ferrera, the actress best known as star of television series Ugly Betty, has launched her own production company. She expects the company, called Take Fountain, to cover a range of projects, including film and television, and possibly educational DVDs and books.
The name of the company refers to a quote from Bette Davis, an inspiration to Ferrera, a fan of the golden age of cinema. As legend has it, when an aspiring actress asked Ms. Davis “the best way to get into Hollywood,” she replied, “Take Fountain,” referring to the East-West avenue in Los Angeles. Base came up with the name, and used it as the springboard for the production company identity.
The logo is handwritten, as by someone giving or taking directions, and engraved in gold for some Hollywood glitz. In her ambition, the down-to-earth Ferrera has been an inspiration to work with, even taking time out of her busy schedule to work on the Hillary Clinton campaign.
