To my big surprise I bumped into Dimitri Broquard at the Frieze NY Art Fair yesterday. He told me he had an exhibition at the Swiss Institute here in NY.
Next to the fact that I really like the Swiss Institute’s program, I was really curious to see what Dimitri B. had been doing since he left BaseNY so I popped in and discovered a really great show.
He came over with his two Swiss friends Vincent Sahli and Kimou Meyer to build our NY office in 1999 with my partner Geoff Cook, where he worked for 2 years. A bit homesick Dimitri left NY after his stint with us and got settled in Zurich.

Do or do we not use Photoshop? That’s not the question.
“And so what if we did?” Would be my answer.

This topic has been on my mind for a while.
Especially since you see all these articles about the use of Photoshop and how the pictures would have looked without it. Don’t you agree that you’re happy they did use it? Not because natural beauty isn’t beautiful (check out my favorite photographer: Juergen Teller) but because to me fashion photography is in large part still about fantasy. A sort of escapism. … more

When my girlfriend and I moved to Santiago, Chile last January, we chose to live in the center of the town. As we wandered around to check out our new neighborhood, we discovered posters. Gorgeous black and white portraits of men, arranged in two rows. The posters weren’t announcing anything, but they appealed to me more than any other advertising I saw at that time.
Only one poster identified the project as THE NACHONAL (Good naming! —Nacho is the short-name for Ignacio and ‘Nachonal’ is pronounced by Chileans the same way as ‘National’). Shortly thereafter, I discovered that behind the project was Nacho Rojas, an über-talented young fashion photographer, one of the highlights of Chile.
So we decided to interview Nacho in order to know more about his project.

Following the near immediate and astonishing success of the Children’s Museum of the Arts, we went to talk to its executive director, Dave Kaplan about what he, his dedicated team, and an inspired board of trustees did to turn a community arts program into a thriving institution. In the segment, we touch upon the process that we underwent with CMA to construct a high-impact, lasting visual identity that can for budgetary reasons be adopted and utilized by an army of freelance designers and volunteers.
